1. Download and Installation
- 1.1. What do I need to do to join a game and start playing gammon online?
- To play gammon online at PartyGammon.net, you'll need our free software application, which you can download simply and easily (see next question).
- 1.2. How do I download the PartyGammon.net application?
- Downloading our software is easy. Just click on the 'Download' button on the left hand side of any page on the PartyGammon.net site. If you experience any difficulties when downloading, please contact PartyGammon.net's Customer Care team at info@partygammon.net, with specific information regarding your problem, and we will assist you as soon as possible.
- 1.3. I downloaded the software, but now I can't find it.
- If you downloaded the software (PartyGammonSetup.exe) but forgot where you saved it, don't worry. Just go to Start-->Find-->File or Folders and type in PartygammonSetup.exe in the 'Named:' box. Once found, just double-click and join the party!
- 1.4. I installed PartyGammon.net software, but I can't hear any sounds.
- Enabling sound for your games is easy. Simply follow these steps:
- a) Log in using your PartyGammon.net account details.
- b) In the PartyGammon.net lobby, select the 'Options' menu
- c) Click on the 'Sounds On/Off' option and make sure that it is checked.
- Please ensure that you have a valid sound card, and that your speakers are not set to mute.
- 1.4. I installed the software. Now where do I go to start playing?
- Once you have downloaded the software, locate the PartyGammon.net icon (the 'MM' icon on your desktop) and click on it. You can also launch the PartyGammon.net application by clicking on the 'Start' button on the bottom left of your screen and searching for PartyGammon.net in the first menu that opens up. You will find 'PartyGammon' in the upper half of the menu. Just click on it, and then click on PartyGammon.net.
- 1.5. Do I need to go to the PartyGammon.net website each time I want to play?
- No, you just have to click on the PartyGammon.net icon on your desktop (the 'MM' icon), it will automatically connect you so you can start playing.
- 1.7 What is a Firewall?
- A firewall is simply a program or hardware device that filters the information coming through the Internet connection onto your system. It is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to your computer or network. The primary function of a firewall is to let authorized traffic pass through, while the unauthorized traffic gets blocked.
- 1.8 How to configure a Firewall?
- There are many firewalls out there. The most common firewalls are Windows XP Firewall, Norton, MacAfee, Zone Alarm and Black Ice. The graphical look of all these firewalls may be different, but the method of blocking or allowing access to an internet based application is the same.

- 1.9 Connecting to Partygammon.net after an upgrade
- When there is an upgrade on Partygammon.net, the firewall sometimes fails to recognize the new version, and so may block the site. You just need to open your firewall and ensure that Party Software is allowed access.
- 1.10 Some common firewall terms
- Port:
- A port is a connection through which data is sent and received on the internet. A port may send/receive data in one direction at a time (simplex), or simultaneously in both directions (duplex).
- Security:
- This refers to techniques for ensuring that data stored in a computer cannot be read or compromised. Most security measures involve data encryption and passwords.
- Packet:
- A piece of a message transmitted over a packet-switching network.
- IP Address:
- An identifier for a computer or device on a TCP/IP network. Networks using the TCP/IP protocol route messages based on the IP address of the destination. The format of an IP address is a 32-bit nEffect of the request: - Making the firewall page widely and commonly understandable.
2. Getting started
- 2.1 What do I do to begin playing?
- Download, install and open our free PartyGammon.net software, as described in the 'Downloading and installion' section of this FAQ. Select a game by clicking the appropriate tab in the Lobby, choose a table, and click 'Join Game'. When you take a seat, a registration form will appear on your screen. Fill out the registration form, and you're all set. You'll be playing backgammon within minutes.
- 2.2 I've never played backgammon before, but would like to learn. How do I start?
- Please go to our 'Learn To Play' section it's packed with all the information, game rules and tips you'll need to master the game of backgammon.
- 2.3 How do I change my password/email address?
- From the lobby select 'My Account' and then the option 'Change Password' or
'Change/Validate email' (OR)
Log in to the PartyAccount website and select the 'Your profile' option, where the option to change password/email is visible. - 2.4 How and why do I need to validate my email address?
- To validate your email address select 'My Account' and then the option 'Change/Validate email'. Validating your email address will ensure that information regarding your account is sent and received by you alone and allows you can make deposit/cash outs faster.

- 3.1 What are the different variants of backgammon offered at PartyGammon.net?
- The different types of games offered at PartyGammon.net are:

- 3.2 How many games can I play simultaneously?
- A player can play up to four game/match tables at any given point in time.
- 3.3 How do I register or create a match?
- In order to register for a match, a player needs to be logged in. After logging in, the player needs to double-click on a board in the list, and, once the opponent agrees the game begins. To create a match, the player needs to first select the stakes they wish to play, create a table and specify the length of the match. Once the table has been created, it will show up in the waiting list and other players will be able to view it.
- 3.4 What are the different types of Backgammon games offered?

- 3.5 Do we use the Doubling cube at PartyGammon.net?
- We allow players to use the doubling cube at PartyGammon.net. The cube is used to increase the stakes during the game. The stakes can be multiplied by the values in the six sides of the cubes 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 (the original stake). When the Crawford rule is activated for a game, the doubling cube cannot be used by either of the players. This happens when either of the players are one point away from a win in a match game.
- 3.6 Do we have the Beaver and Raccoon Concepts? If yes what are they?
- We use both the Beaver and the Raccoon at PartyGammon.net. For more details go to the Advanced Rules page.
- 3.7 What happens if I am disconnected from a table in the middle of a game?
- If this happens, our software will automatically try to re-connect you to the Internet, and return you to your board. Ideally, you'll return in time to resume play as if nothing had happened. Find out more about our Disconnection Policy.
- 3.8 How many disconnect protects are allowed per day?
- Every player will be given two disconnect protects per game. However, if we notice that a player is abusing his disconnect protect timer, we will revoke the disconnect protect timer for the player and will bar him from playing any more games.
- 3.9 If the game is cancelled midway through, how is the winner of the game decided?
- If a game is cancelled midway through, the result of the game will be calculated using an winning odds calculator and the respective amounts will be credited to the player's account.
- 3.10 FREE GAMES
- 3.10.1 Can I play for fun at PartyGammon.net?
- Of course you can! Just download our free software, create an account and, after successfully creating an account just click on the 'Free Money Games' option to play for fun.
- 3.10.2 How many chips do you give me to play with at the play money tables?
- We start you with 1,000 chips.
4. Fairness, security and legal issues
- 4.1 Do all backgammon sites use the same software?
- At PartyGammon.net, we offer the most high-tech and secure software system available anywhere. Our backgammon software was created strictly for PartyGammon.net. No other backgammon site on the web has the same software as PartyGammon.net.
- 4.2 How can I be sure that all games played at PartyGammon.net are fair and honest?
- To learn more about our security, and fair and honest play on PartyGammon.net, please read our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. As an example of our integrity, we are one of only a few operators to be awarded with GamCare certification in player protection and social responsibility.
- 4.3 Sometimes during play, the connection is interrupted or the game slows down. Why is this?
- The communication between your machine and our servers has been optimized
for the fastest response. However, if you feel that your game is going slow,
there are two likely explanations:
- The players on the table are taking a long time to make their moves.
- You may not have a good connection to the Internet.
5. General
- 5.1 Do we have skill levels at PartyGammon.net?
- Yes. We will have skill levels at PartyGammon.net for the initial launch that are yet to be defined. The skill levels will be based on the rankings of the player.
- 5.2 Do we have the chat at PartyGammon.net and can a chat be blocked? If yes why?
- We will have the chat feature for PartyGammon.net where we will monitor the chat of players. Players that do not comply with the chat etiquette will have their chat blocked.
